Visual content creators are doing things differently these days, and a host of new offerings from ARRI have targeted trends and changes in the industry.
Acknowledging the growing popularity of LED lighting instruments, ARRI introduced a trio of fixtures: the Background Lighting Module (BLM) system with color control automation, controllable PAX Panel instruments, and the color-tunable LED Caster family, consisting of the studio-based BroadCaster and its location lighting sibling, LoCaster.
New entries were announced for the HMI lighting family as well. Capitalizing on new 1,800 W HMI technologies that permit wall-outlet operation, ARRI announced the M18, a wide-field instrument, and the ARRISUN 18, which delivers a narrower, spot-focus beam. Both can be downlamped for 1,200 W.
Shifting trends in the digital intermediate marketplace have prompted ARRI to add a lower-cost, entry-level film scanner to its line. The ARRISCAN 2K utilizes many of the same components as its higher-resolution counterparts and can be upgraded to add advanced features.
ARRI's venerable camera line also saw improvements, upgrades and accessories. Of particular note is the new HD-IVS video assist system, which provides an HD video output from the camera.
